La Tania Resort Guide
One of the secrets of The 3 Valleys ski area, La Tania is a real gem. Nestled in the tree line at 1350 metres right at the end of some fantastic runs.
The resort is the newest in The 3 Valleys and is still growing. Originally built in 1990 by the architect Jacques Labro. Labro used natural materials to blend the village into the mountain side.
In 1992 the Albertville Winter Olympics kicked off and La Tania played its part by housing the ice hockey teams participating in the event.
The village enjoys a relaxed feel and has some very pleasant bars to enjoy after the days skiing.
Many English companies have chosen La Tania as a place to offer holidays and it certainly is a good choice. La Tania has a good snow record and the slopes that are situated directly above the resort are mostly north facing. Meaning the snow conditions are better for longer.
Being part of The 3 Valleys, La Tania can boast access to 600km of pistes and unlimited off-piste possibilities.
La Tania is located close to Courchevel and Méribel but is generally a lot better value for money. The resort is considered as a family friendly place to stay.
There are three pistes that wind their way down the north east facing slopes to the village. A red, blue and a green. The green and the blue benefit from snow canons and there is a free drag lift that runs for most of the season.
The village centre is traffic free and there are four ski hire shops as well as a supermarket, bakery and post office.
La Tania has a few bars and restaurants to choose from such as Pub Le Ski Lodge (lively après ski, a daily happy hour and live music), La Taiga, and Le Ferme de la Tania.
