Getting from Chambéry to Tignes

Chambéry to Tignes takes around 2 hours 15 minutes, one of our most popular routes. Chambéry is the closest international airport to the Tarentaise valley, making this one of the shortest ways to reach the Espace Killy ski area. Mountain Rescue is a family business, running our own 100% 4WD fleet with drivers who live in resort year-round, so we know this route better than anyone.

Choose a private transfer or our business class service — either way, you're travelling with the same family of drivers who know this road, and the shortcuts to avoid the traffic.

Getting to Tignes

Chambéry Airport is the closest of all the international airports in the area, around 135km from Tignes.

The route from Chambéry to Albertville is all toll road, so if you travel early in the morning, it's a clear run to the foothills of the resorts. From Albertville, we continue on the N90 towards La Bâthie, then Moûtiers. Since traffic can build up in Moûtiers, it's always best to travel in and out of resort either early or late in the day.

After Moûtiers, we drive past the Paradiski ski area and on to Bourg St Maurice, the end of the line for the snow train from London.

From Bourg, the climb up to Tignes takes another 45 minutes. In heavy snow, many motorists are asked to fit snow chains about halfway up — but with our 100% 4WD fleet, that's one less thing to worry about. Our driver takes you directly to your accommodation door, bringing your luggage in with you.
