From Grenoble Airport to the sunny side of the Tarentaise
Grenoble Airport to La Rosière is around 215 km and takes about 2 hours 40 minutes. Most of the drive is motorway through Chambéry and Albertville. The last half hour is a scenic climb from Bourg Saint Maurice up towards the Italian border.
Grenoble is a small, quiet airport with weekend ski flights from the UK, so you're through arrivals quickly and on the road to the snow. Mountain Rescue meets you outside and drives you straight to your chalet or apartment in one of our own VW Caravelle 4Motion minibuses. The minibus is just for your group, with no shared stops.

There isn't much to eat at Grenoble Airport, just one bar-restaurant and a snack counter with limited hours. It's worth eating before you fly, or adding a supermarket stop on the way up.

The route to La Rosière
From Grenoble Airport, we head towards Chambéry, either on the A43 or around the edge of Grenoble, depending on traffic. From there, the motorway runs to Albertville, and the valley road continues through Moûtiers to Bourg Saint Maurice.
At Bourg, we turn off through the village of Séez and climb the road towards the Petit Saint Bernard pass. It's the most beautiful part of the journey, with views back across the valley to Les Arcs. After about 30 minutes, you arrive in La Rosière at 1,850 m. We drop off throughout the resort, including La Rosière village and Les Eucherts.
Best days and times to travel
Saturday is changeover day, and the valley roads around Albertville and Moûtiers are busiest on Saturday afternoons. Grenoble flights are mostly at weekends, so a morning arrival is the best way to beat the traffic.
Your return to Grenoble
On your last day, we'll usually collect you around 5 hours before your flight. In school holidays or heavy snow, we may come a little earlier. We'll confirm the exact time by text the evening before.
Child seats
We fit free baby seats, child seats and boosters before we meet you. Just tell us your children's ages when you book. Every child needs their own seat by law, so please include them in your group size.
Supermarket stop
La Rosière has small shops, but prices are higher than in the valley. Our usual stop is the Super U in Bourg Saint Maurice, the last big supermarket before the climb. Book the stop in advance, and you can even order your shopping online and collect it on the way.

easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and Transavia all fly to Grenoble, many of them on weekend ski routes from the UK.
Is Grenoble a good airport for La Rosière?
Yes. The drive is about the same as from Geneva, and Grenoble is much quieter, with short queues and quick baggage.
Can we ski into Italy from La Rosière?
Yes. La Rosière is linked to La Thuile in Italy, forming the Espace San Bernardo. With the right lift pass, you can ski across the border and stop for lunch in Italy.
Can you drive over the pass to La Thuile?
Not in winter. The Petit Saint Bernard road is closed to traffic in the snow season, so you reach La Thuile on skis.
What if our flight is delayed or diverted?
We track your flight, and the first 90 minutes of waiting are free. If a flight is diverted to Lyon or Chambéry, call our office and we'll send your driver to the right airport.
About La Rosière
La Rosière sits at 1,850 m on a south-facing balcony above the Tarentaise valley, so it gets plenty of sunshine as well as heavy snowfall. It's a friendly, family-sized resort with a good mix of gentle slopes and long red runs.
Together with La Thuile, it forms the Espace San Bernardo, a cross-border ski area with stunning views of Mont Blanc. More adventurous skiers can also try heli-skiing from the Italian side.

Sainte Foy is just across the valley, and Les Arcs, via Villaroger, is around 30 minutes away. Tignes and Val d'Isère are about 45 minutes away by road.
