The journey from Lyon to Tignes
The Airport of Lyon Saint Exupery was named after a famous writer and pilot back in 2000 and nowadays is a hub for Air France and Easy Jet
Our lovely driver will meet you at the arrivals area and load up ready for the trip. Once leaving the airport you will be heading towards Chambéry down the A43 motorway.
Once you have passed Chambéry you head on towards the town of Albertville, the location of the 1992 winter Olympics.
Onwards from Albertville is Moûtiers and then to Bourg Sainte Maurice home to all the big supermarkets in the area and frequently visited by masses of chalets hosts.
Climbing up the mountain towards Tignes Les Brevieres 1550 meters then over the dam to the newly named Tignes 1800 then Tignes Le Lac and finally at the foot of the glacier Tignes Val Claret.
Mountain Rescue recommend you land relatively early in Lyon if travelling on a Saturday. This will help you avoid any traffic build up that usually occurs on the mountain roads later in the day. Departure time from Tignes to Lyon will normally be around 5h 30 min before your flight time. This is subject to change, see at the time of booking.
Plan your journey
Saturdays in peak season bring the heaviest traffic, and the A43 between Lyon and Chambéry gets busy in the afternoon. If you can, book an early flight into Lyon. It makes a real difference to your journey time.
Return journey: Tignes to Lyon Airport
For the return trip, we normally pick you up around 5 hours 30 minutes before your flight. On busy peak-season Saturdays and during school holidays, we may collect you earlier. We'll confirm your pick-up time by text the evening before you travel.
Travelling with children
We provide free child and booster seats for ages 0 to around 10 (or up to 135–150 cm tall). Just tell us the ages and how many seats you need when you book. By law, children can't travel on laps, so please book a seat for each child.
Book a shopping stop
If you are staying in a self catered ski chalet. We can stop at Super U in Bourg Saint Maurice, right on the route, where prices are lower than in resort. Please book the stop in advance. Other stops on the way are limited to short toilet breaks.

Where do we meet our driver at Lyon Airport?
In the arrivals area. You'll get your driver's name, number and meeting time by email and text the day before you travel.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight, and your driver waits 90 minutes free of charge. After that, waiting time is charged at €25 an hour where the driver's schedule allows.
Do you provide child seats?

Should we fly into Lyon or Geneva for Tignes?
Both take around 3 hours to Tignes. Lyon often has cheaper flights and quieter roads, while Geneva has more flights to choose from. We run private transfers from both.
