The journey from Lyon to La Rosière
Our transfer driver meets you in the arrivals area at Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, and we join the A43 heading east.
We pass Bourgoin-Jallieu and Romagnieu, then continue towards Chambéry. Since this stretch is almost entirely motorway, the journey stays fast even before we reach the mountains.
Through Albertville and up to the Italian border
Past Chambéry, we continue on the A43 towards Albertville, then join the N90 through La Bâthie and on to Moûtiers. From Moûtiers, we head through Bourg Saint Maurice and Séez, climbing towards the French-Italian border.
From Séez, it takes about 30 minutes to complete the climb to La Rosière, the most stunning part of the drive, with views up and down the Tarentaise valley and across to Les Arcs.

About La Rosière
The station of La Rosière sits close to the Italian border and forms part of the L’Espace San Bernardo skiing area, with the village itself at 1,850 metres.
The resort is renowned for good snowfalls due to its position, and it also catches plenty of sunshine, since it’s south-facing. Because of this, La Rosière has become a favourite spot for adventurous heliski trips into the nearby off-piste areas.

La Rosière is quite special, since it sits close to the Italian border, high up in the Alps. It’s part of L’Espace San Bernardo, which joins La Rosière with the Italian resort of La Thuile.
By crossing the famous Col du Petit Saint Bernard, skiers can drop down into Italy for a coffee and a pizza, then be back in France the same day.
Further afield, Tignes is around an hour’s drive from La Rosière and makes a great day trip, skiing the Espace Killy region, which includes Val d’Isère.
