From Chambéry Airport, toll roads take you to Albertville. It's a clear, easy stretch of motorway. The N90 then continues through La Bâthie and Moûtiers, where traffic can build up. From Moûtiers, the route passes the Paradiski ski area towards Bourg Saint Maurice. The final climb to Tignes takes around 45 minutes. In heavy snow, self-drivers are often asked to fit snow chains about halfway up — one less thing to think about when you book a transfer instead.

Chambéry is a small regional airport with limited shops and food options. It's worth picking up any snacks or essentials before you fly.

Saturdays in peak season see the heaviest traffic through the valley in the afternoon. We recommend booking the earliest available flight into Chambéry where possible.

Please allow plenty of time for the return trip to Chambéry Airport. We recommend departing Tignes around 4 hours before your flight, with an extra buffer built in on peak-season Saturdays when traffic is heaviest.

We provide free child and booster seats for ages 0 to around 10 years old, or up to 135–150cm tall. Just let us know ages and how many you need when you book. By law, children can't travel on laps, so please book a seat for each child.

Need to pick up supplies before you reach your accommodation? We can arrange a stop at Super U in Bourg Saint Maurice, right on the route — just book it in advance. Unscheduled stops en route are limited to brief 5-minute toilet breaks.

Why fly into Chambéry rather than Geneva for Tignes? Chambéry is the closest airport to the Tarentaise valley — typically quicker than flying into Geneva. That means less time travelling and more time on the slopes.

How long does the transfer take? Around 2 hours 15 minutes, with the final climb to Tignes taking about 45 minutes.

Do we need snow chains for this route? Not with us — our fleet is 100% 4WD and ready for the climb. Self-drivers are sometimes asked to fit chains about halfway up in heavy snow, but that's one less thing for you to worry about.

Where do we meet our driver at Chambéry Airport? Your driver waits in the arrivals area. You'll get their name, number, and confirmed meeting time by email and SMS the day before you travel.

What happens if my flight is delayed? Your driver will wait 90 minutes free of charge. After that, waiting time is charged at €25/hour where the driver's schedule allows. Longer delays may need a new transfer booked at full rate.

Is Chambéry Airport affected by bad weather? As a smaller regional airport, Chambéry can occasionally see delays or diversions during heavy fog or snow, more so than a larger hub like Geneva. If that happens, let us know as soon as you can. Our drivers track flight status and will adjust your pickup time or location, so a diversion doesn't have to disrupt your journey.

Tignes sits in eastern France and, together with Val d'Isère, forms the Espace Killy ski area, renowned as one of the most lively and fun ski areas in the world.

The resort comprises five villages: Val Claret, Tignes le Lac, Le Lavachet, Les Boisses and Les Brévières. Val Claret, Tignes le Lac and Le Lavachet sit close together at 2,100 metres, while Les Boisses and Les Brévières lie further down the valley.

Tignes is directly connected to Val d'Isère by chairlift. From the Grande Motte glacier, the highest point in Tignes, you can ski all the way down to Val d'Isère La Daille.

Sainte Foy is about a 35-minute drive away, and well worth a visit if you enjoy off-piste skiing or fancy a change on quieter runs. For piste maps and lift information, the Espace Killy official site is a useful resource.
