Chambéry to Les Arcs Airport Transfers

Chambéry is a small regional airport with limited shops and food options. It's worth picking up any snacks or essentials before you fly. If you'd rather stock up locally, we can also arrange a stop at Super U in Bourg Saint Maurice, right on the way to your resort.

From Chambéry Airport, the route runs via toll roads to Albertville. From there it follows the N90 through La Bâthie and Moûtiers, reaching Bourg Saint Maurice at the foot of the valley. The road then climbs through the Arc villages — Arc 1600, Arc 1800, and Arc 1950 — with Arc 2000 a little further and higher still. The full journey covers around 120km. It takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on your village and winter road conditions.

Saturdays in peak season see the heaviest traffic through the valley in the afternoon. We recommend booking the earliest available flight into Chambéry where possible — it makes a real difference to journey time.

For the return trip, we recommend allowing around 4 hours 30 minutes before your flight departure, with extra time built in on peak-season Saturdays when traffic is heaviest.

We provide free child and booster seats for ages 0 to around 10 years old (or up to 135–150cm tall) — just let us know ages and how many you need when you book. By law, children can't travel on laps, so please book a seat for each child.

Why fly into Chambéry rather than Geneva for Les Arcs? Chambéry is the closest airport to the Tarentaise valley — typically an hour or more quicker to Les Arcs than flying into Geneva. That means less time travelling and more time on the slopes.

How long does the transfer take? Around 1 hour 45 minutes to Bourg Saint Maurice and the lower Arc villages, with a little extra time to reach Arc 1950 or Arc 2000.

What happens if my flight is delayed? Your driver will wait 90 minutes free of charge. After that, waiting time is charged at €25/hour where the driver's schedule allows; longer delays may need a new transfer booked at full rate.

Is Chambéry Airport affected by bad weather? As a smaller regional airport, Chambéry can occasionally see delays or diversions during heavy fog or snow, more so than a larger hub like Geneva. If that happens, let us know as soon as you can. Our drivers track flight status and will adjust your pickup time or location, so a diversion doesn't have to disrupt your journey.

Four purpose-built villages climb the mountainside above Bourg Saint Maurice, together forming Les Arcs: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950, and Arc 2000. A funicular railway carries visitors from Bourg Saint Maurice up to Arc 1600, nestled in the tree line with excellent access to the slopes. Each village has its own character, from traditional chalet-style Arc 1950 to the ski-in ski-out convenience of Arc 2000. Together they offer extensive, high-altitude skiing with reliable snow well into spring.

Beyond skiing, Les Arcs offers a huge range of winter activities. You can try ice climbing on frozen waterfalls and couloirs, or paragliding for spectacular views over the mountains. Speedriding is another option — a fast-paced blend of paragliding and skiing. For a quieter pace, cross-country skiing is available nearby in Peisey-Nancroix.

The Vanoise Express cable car links Les Arcs to La Plagne. Together they form the Paradiski ski area — one of the largest linked ski domains in the world. Peisey-Vallandry sits just below Arc 1800 and shares the same lift network. Confident skiers can even reach Tignes and Val d'Isère for a day trip further afield.
