Resort guide

Meribel is situated right at the center of the massive 3 Valleys ski area with 600 km of piste available it is considered the largest ski area in Europe if not the world. Meribel itself had 150 km of pistes available mostly are blues but around 25% of them are red and about 10% black.

Meribel has good beginner facilities and ski schools but the best thing about Meribel has to be its location, centered for easy access to either of the other two valleys. For the experienced skier or snowboarder the options are limitless. Plan your daily trip to either side of the 3 Valley and visit Val Thorens in one direction or Courchevel in the other.

Meribel situated at 1400 meters and Meribel Mottaret at 1750 meters they are  the two main resorts in the Les Allues valley and enjoy some very spectacular snow sure skiing. The villages themselves are well maintained and still full of charm, driving up to the resorts is a pleasant and enjoyable trip.

Chalets in Meribel are often on the luxurious side of things with the options to go for fully serviced and catered in most. Up in Mottaret there are some very reasonably priced catered chalets, self catered apartments and a good collection of hotels situated close to the pistes.

The skiing here is defiantly snow sure and quite often you will see chalet hosts digging their driveways clear after yet another big snowfall. Meribel also has an abundance of bars shops and very good restaurants as well as the usual ski hire outlets and supermarkets.

History wise Meribel hosted the ice hokey and the women’s alpine skiing events in the 1992 winter Olympics and was the host for the acclaimed Altitude Festival in 2010.

Airport transfers to Meribel will take you just under 2 and a half hours from Geneva and 1 and a half hours from Chambery airport.
