Defiantly one of the secrets of the 3 valleys ski area, La Tania is a real gem nestled in the tree line at 1350 meters and right at the end of some fantastic runs.
The resort is the newest in the 3 Valleys and is still growing. Originally built in 1990 by the architect Jacques Labro. Labro used natural materials to keep the feel of the area and blend the village into the mountain side. In 1992 the Albertville winter Olympics kicked off and La Tania played its part by housing the ice hockey teams participating in the event.
The village enjoys a relaxed feel and has some very pleasant bars to enjoy after the days skiing. Many English companies have chosen La Tania as the place they want to offer their holidays and it certainly is a good choice. La Tania has a good snow record and the slopes situated directly above the resort are mostly north facing so the good snow conditions stay good for longer. Being part of the 3 valleys it can boast access to 600 km of pistes and pretty much unlimited off piste possibilities.
La Tania is located close to Courchevel and Meribel but generally a lot better value for money. The resort is considered as a family friendly place to stay. The village center is traffic free and there are 4 ski hire shops as well as a supermarket, bakery, post office and 8 bar slash restaurants to pick from.
Getting in and out of the village there are three pistes that wind their way down the north east facing slopes, a red, blue and a green the green and the blue benefit from snow canons and there is a free drag lift that runs for most of the season.
La Tania has some lively après ski with the Ski Lodge pub offering a daily happy hour and live music and both the Chrome Bar and the Taiga Bar. Transfers to La Tania will take around 1 hour 30 minutes from Chambery and 2 hours 15 minutes from Geneva.
