Resort guide

Tignes has just about everything to offer. Made up of 5 villages Tignes Les Brevieres at 1550 meters enjoys the traditional village feel and is a hub for great local food. Tignes 1800 is newly developed and has a large selection of apartments for self catered holidays.
In the main area of Tignes you have Le Lac situated around a Lake surprisingly enough and right at the top of the valley close to the access point of the glacier is Val Claret. When getting your airport transfer to Tignes and arriving in resort the word epic always springs to mind and Tignes can well be described as an epic ski area. The Espace killy has 300 km of piste and well over 150 ski runs all accessed by a very competent ski lift system. The skiing itself is fantastic with truly something for every level. Expert skiers will be able to find a challenge on and off the piste, whilst beginners and intermediates will enjoy the well groomed blues and reds.
Tignes has a glacier topping at 3550 meters and has one of the best snow records in the valley. The season is also very long starting on the Glacier in September and the main area in November. The glacier is also open in July for some summer skiing if you fancy it. Tignes is very poular with Brits and has a massive array of self and catered accommodation options. Many big tour operators have chalets here but there are a lot of owner run operations as well.
Travel down to Tignes Les Brevieres at 1550 and you will find some excellent skiing and some very good restaurants. The chalets in Brevieres are of an excellent standard and there are a few great bars to enjoy after a hard day on the slopes.

What we like:

  • The Grande Motte
  • Loop bar and restaurant
  • The Palafour chair lift
  • Masses of great off piste
  • L'armailly restaurant Brevieres
  • The snow park
  • The X Games when in Tignes
