Journey from Geneva to La Plagne
The route from Geneva to La Plagne takes you out of Switzerland and into France along the A41 towards Annecy. This is a very picturesque part of the journey because the road follows along the side of Lac d'Annecy (Lake Annecy) - one of Europe cleanest lakes. Get your cameras out here, if you are travelling during the day.
After the 14 kilometre drive down the length of Lake Annecy, we get on the motorway and pass the city of Albertville. Albertville was the host of the 1992 Olympics and is pronounced Au-ber-vee-yey.
Quickly, we come to the small town of Moûtiers at the foot of The 3 Valleys ski area. A ski domain that is worth a visit next year!
We then arrive at Aime, where we start our ascent to the ski resorts of La Plagne. The journey upwards, from the motorway to the first village takes around 25 minutes - each bend in the mountain road is numbered for some family entertainment.

Saturday is the most popular arrival day in the Alps - understandable when people finish work on a Friday. Mountain Rescue recommends you book a flight that lands in Geneva early in the morning if you must travel on a Saturday.
Early travel will help to avoid any traffic build-up that occurs later in the day during the winter months, especially during school holidays, Christmas and New Year.
Supermarkets on the Way to La Plagne
A supermarket stop is a fantastic way to arrive fully prepared at your ski accommodation. Especially if you are self-catered this year. The supermarket on the valley floor are well equipped and less expensive than those in the ski resorts.
Our favoured shop stop on the route from Geneva to La Plagne is E.Leclerc in Aime.
Supermarket stops must be booked in advance. Our drivers will not be able to stop at a supermarket if you haven't booked, as they are busy with other transfers.
Travelling to La Plagne with Children

About La Plagne
Based in the Tarentaise valley, La Plagne dates back to 1961 and is part of the Paradiski ski area. La Plagne is linked directly to the resort of Les Arcs making up the Paradiski ski area.
Less than three hours from Geneva Airport La Plagne is easy to get to and has 225 kilometres of slopes and a large off-piste area. The mountain called the Bellecôte's famous North Face which is perfect location for skiing, snowboarding and a host of other activities.

Resorts Near to La Plagne
La Plagne is made up of lots of small villages which includes Les Coches and Montchavin. These two particularly villages are nestled in the tree line and both are great places to stop for lunch with very good mountain restaurants.
Les Arcs
Les Arcs is La Plagne's neighbour across the valley and the two are linked by the world-famous Vanoise Express, one of the longest single-span cable cars in the world. Together they make up the Paradiski area.
Les Arcs is very easy to access from La Plagne but do make sure you have a Paradiski lift pass. To travel to Les Arcs, just head out of La Plagne Centre and in the direction of Les Coches and Montchavin. The pistes run down to the Vanoise Express and they are so much fun.
Villaroger
Villaroger is a small, quiet, gem of a resort based in the far corner of the Les Arcs ski area and it's easy to miss if you don't know the area. The village itself is based at the foot of a famously long run from the highest point in Les Arcs - the Aiguille Rouge. Ski for what seems like forever through the breezy, tree-lined runs to Villaroger.
Tignes
Tignes is just 1 hour away from La Plagne by road in good weather, so a day trip to Tignes is entirely possible if you are feeling adventurous. Unfortunately, the ski resorts no longer do free 1 day passes to other resorts, so you'd have to buy a 1-day ski pass. Get on the road early if you'd like to make the most of your day - just ask Mountain Rescue Transfers if you'd like a ride.
